Sipera Systems and Chile-based Belltech have announced the deployment of the Sipera real-time UC security appliances at Banco de Crédito e Inversiones.

The three companies have worked together to secure the unified communications infrastructure to protect both BCI and its customers using BCI’s online banking services.

Sipera provides real-time unified communications security, and Belltech is an advanced communication solutions integrator.

“With Sipera and Belltech, our customers can rest assured that their communications with us are secure,” said Pablo Cousiño, head of the Innovation Group at BCI.

Cousino said that by offering a wide variety of banking services online such as Internet calls redirected to company’s call center, protection for remote UC users – customers, providers, and employees – call center interactions and new Internet ways to interact with the bank, “we can better serve our customers.”

He added that the also Sipera security solution for their Avaya (News - Alert) network deployment enables company to replace E1 trunk lines with session initiation protocol lines from local carriers.

BCI’s online virtual “T Banc” includes online account setup, short message service account information retrieval, customer service calling using VoIP. In addition, it also comes with the ability to make most of the standard bank transactions online.

According to BCI officials, it now can conduct transactions over “inexpensive SIP trunks,” which also carry the bank’s VoIP traffic at a lower cost. BCI believes that all this expands its capability to provide wide and diverse new services.

In addition to securing SIP trunks, Sipera IPCS appliance also simplifies the deployment and provides quality of service reporting. Officials said that this enables protection and monitoring of these critical applications for attacks, breaches and other anomalies.

“BCI has embraced unified communications to better serve customers, and reduce communications costs,” said John Firnett, vice president for sales South America at Sipera Systems (News - Alert), adding that BCI recognized the need to fully secure these applications by partnering with Belltech and deploying UC security solutions from Sipera.

“Businesses in many industries are adopting Unified Communications (News - Alert) to create new ways to interact with clients, said Renán Pérez, sales manager at Belltech, a Sipera reseller covering South America.

He added that Sipera’s comprehensive UC security is “ideal” for businesses, both large and small, looking to simplify and secure UC deployments.
