A recent report from Infonetics Research Inc. on enterprise SBCs has reportedly recognized Acme Packet as one of the two top vendors in the enterprise SBC market.

Acme Packet (News - Alert), Inc. helps the delivery of interactive communications like voice, video and multimedia sessions and data services across IP network borders, the company said.

According to Matthias Machowinski, directing analyst for enterprise voice and data at Infonetics Research (News - Alert), as the long-time market leader of service provider SBCs, Acme Packet has a commanding position in the enterprise SBC market. The SBC expertise, large SIP trunking service provider installed base, and recent enterprise initiatives put Acme Packet in a strong position as the market expands by more than 700 percent over the next five years.

Infonetics said in its June 2009 report “Enterprise SBC Market Outlook,” that Acme Packet was one of two top market companies by revenue share in a pool of several vendors that comprise the enterprise SBC market. The report predicted an average annual growth of 49% for this emerging market through 2013 to around $300 million. The rapid adoption of SIP trunking services and IP-to-IP connectivity within the enterprise was cited as the driving demand for enterprise-class SBCs.

According to Andy Ory, president, CEO and co-founder of Acme Packet, the latest research from Infonetics’ illustrates Acme Packet’s leadership role in the enterprise market and the potential for growth as the market expands. SIP trunking and IP connectivity are changing the way enterprises communicate. Infonetics’ research essentially demonstrates that Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs play a critical role in enabling this transition.

Acme Packet made several significant enterprise announcements earlier this year. These included the introduction of the Net-Net 3800 and the acquisition of Covergence (News - Alert). Acme Packet’s enterprise base includes customers in the finance, technology, consumer goods, retail, government agencies and contact centers. An earlier report by Infonetics estimated that Acme Packet held a 45 percent market share by revenue in the service provider SBC market last year.

An international market research and consulting firm, Infonetics Research specializes in data networking and telecom. The firm provides a complete view of the market through quarterly market share and forecasting, end-user survey research, service provider survey research and service provider capex analysis. Infonetics plans to release precise market share figures for the enterprise SBC market in its future reports.
