GENBAND Names New CFO, Citing Expertise in Public Markets, M&A

By Paula Bernier Executive Editor, TMC

Jeffrey Kupp has joined GENBAND as chief financial officer, the company announced today. He was formerly CFO as Microtune.

“Jeff is an outstanding addition to our management team, bringing with him extensive experience managing complex challenges and opportunities of the public markets,” Vogt said. “He has navigated multiple merger and acquisition scenarios in previous roles, and delivered auditing and management consulting services at a big four accounting firm. We are very pleased to welcome him to our team.”

Speaking of M&A, GENBAND over the years has made multiple acquisitions, including NextPoint Networks in fall of 2008, Tekelec’s Switching Solutions Group in April 2007, Nokia Siemens Networks’ Surpass IP trunking gateway product lines in April 2008, and both BayPackets Inc. and the Digital Central Office business of Siemens Networks LLC in late 2006.

Kupp is the replacement for Jan Gaulding, who is now GENBAND’s chief administrative officer, and reports to CEO Charlie Vogt. Kupp joined Microtune in 2005, and served as vice president, CFO and secretary. Prior to that he was the CFO at performance management and testing solution supplier Inet Technologies Inc.
