Toshiba  and TelePacific Communications have announced the interoperability of SmartVoice, TelePacific's dynamic SIP trunking solution with Toshiba (News - Alert)'s family of Strata CIX IP business communication systems.

With this certification, TelePacific offers customers the ability to implement SmartVoice with Toshiba's Strata CIX.

"The SmartVoice solution offers users of Toshiba Strata CIX VoIP business communication systems a compelling combination - Toshiba's enterprise telephony capabilities and cost-effective telephone and Internet services," Shahin Hatamian, vice president of Product Management for Toshiba America Information Systems, Telecommunication Systems Division, said.

As the final step to complete interoperability certification, TelePacific conducted field tests with Authorized Toshiba dealers SynerTel and ATS Communications.

TelePacific's SmartVoice services provide traditional and next generation network connections with dynamic voice and data integration in 1.5M increments up to 6.0M. It increases the effective bandwidth with optimum throughput and efficiency.

For call control and voice features, SmartVoice Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) services use an advanced telephony platform. This platform resides in the core of TelePacific's private IP network and delivers SIP-based voice from customer premises to the PSTN, the company said.

The SIP-based service terminates at the customer premises and can be converted to a traditional voice interface with a TelePacific-managed gateway or delivered directly as SIP to the LAN.

SmartVoice uses the capabilities of SIP technology and 'bonding' to provide the voice services customers need while increasing the data bandwidth available to improve employee productivity.

"The certification of SmartVoice with the Strata CIX is a tremendous advantage for Toshiba system owners with CIX40 systems," according to Ben Stiegler, CEO of SynerTel.

With this system, even small businesses with as few as four lines can enjoy true direct numbers per employee, department, or language-of-interaction -- without the need for larger-scale PRI technology, Stiegler said.

SmartVoice is now available in California and Nevada from Authorized Toshiba Dealers. In early May, Toshiba announced itsToshiba Unified Communications (News - Alert) Suite has received a 2009 Product of the Year Award from Technology Marketing Corporation's or "TMC (News - Alert)" Unified Communications magazine. Compatible with Toshiba Strata CIX VoIP systems of all sizes, it gives users a full suite of unified communications applications on a single server, the company said.
