InnoMedia, a provider of Internet and broadband access IP Telephony solutions, has stated that consulting engineering firm Clearcable Networks has endorsed their ESBC 8528-4B Enterprise SIP Gateway after thoroughly testing it.

Designed for MSOs offering SIP trunking and high-speed data services, InnoMedia (News - Alert) has claimed that its ESBC 8528-4B is a highly integrated and highly manageable Enterprise Session Border Controller that can be auto-provisioned and remotely managed. It is ideally suitable for wide deployment by MSOs addressing SIP-PBX (News - Alert) interoperability.

Located at the network edge, the ESBC 8528-4B enables NAT and firewall traversal, permitting VoIP traffic to enter the network while preventing unauthorized access. Embedded in a cable modem supporting end-to-end QoS, the ESBC allows MSOs for the first time to deliver uncompromising call quality without having to wait for their next generation network to be built.

InnoMedia has explained that the new ESG is integrated with DOCSIS 2.0 embedded cable modem module, internal battery, and external UPS and offers 4 FXS ports and 3 data paths: a path for the authorized/authenticated MSO SIP trunk traffic, a bridge/pass-through path for high speed data, and an optional non-SIP trunk SIP path useful for remote workers connecting to the office SIP-PBX or for inter-office SIP-PBX communications. The ESBC 8528-4B is claimed to be the first offering for Cable Service Providers with device-initiated DQoS over DOCSIS cable networks to deliver QoS managed SIP trunks.
