VIP Communications, a provider of voice communications solutions for consumers around the world, has announced a platform migration to DIGITALK's (News - Alert) VoIP switching solution.

Officials with VIP Communications opined that migrating from DIGITALK's traditional TDM platform to the SIP Application Server; the company will increase network efficiencies and provide enhanced services to its customers economically.

"We have a long history with DIGITALK and have great confidence in their ability to deliver," said Graham Milne, managing director at VIP Communications, in a statement.
"We have enjoyed a long rewarding partnership over the past fourteen years" said Justin Norris, CEO of DIGITALK.

Norris said that VIP Communications originally selected the company's TDM switching platform in 1996, and when VIP Communications looked to move to IP they again selected DIGITALK and NGN solution.

"In their evaluation of both our TDM and IP capabilities, we out-performed our competition in every aspect. We look forward to continuing our partnership as VIP Communications grow on our Media Application Server," he said.

DIGITALK is an independent communications platform and applications vendor that enables service providers to roll out enhanced services rapidly and profitably.
Service-ready applications include; prepaid cards, prepaid mobile, broadband telephony, IP virtual office and service numbers.

Founded in the UK in 1996, DIGITALK has installed more than 1200 service platforms worldwide, and has over 400 customers, ranging in scale from smaller service providers to national operators.

Earlier in May Cable provider KMS (Kabel, Medien & Servicegesellschaft), headquartered in Munich Germany, had announced that it has transferred all residential VoIP telephony services to the DIGITALK NGN SIP Application Server.

KMS have been operating a residential primary line replacement service using Open SER, an open source technology for its voice service as part of its cable TV, internet and voice packages (operating under the cablesurf brand). However, the limitations of features and operational expenses of integration, maintenance and management have proved a costly overhead.

The integration of the DIGITALK SIP Application server allows KMS to offer a full class 5 feature set with DIGITALK's Broadband Telephony application and consolidate all management and maintenance onto a single platform footprint, including DIGITALK's integral Session Border Controller.

The migration to the SIP Application Server allows KMS to expand their value-added service portfolio to serve SME Business Customers utilising DIGITALK IP Virtual Office (IP Centrex solution) and Service Numbers for intelligent call routing and Number Translation Services.
